How to Run a Successful Photobooth Marketing Campaign

A brand that can provide them the same will get their love and attention, and if you can give them something to remember the experience by, then you will stay on their mind for years after the event.

Photobooth businesses have been one of the most successful components of the event marketing campaigns for years now. Customers have always wanted to take home something tangible, plain old sales pitch has lost its effectiveness ages ago. Essentially, what the customers really want is a memorable and authentic experience. Any brand that can provide them the same will get their love and attention, and if you can give them something to remember the experience by, then you will stay on their mind for years after the event.

A photobooth if marketed well, achieves it all. Not so long ago, it involved a participant standing in front of a scene that captures the theme of the event and taking a photo home. The photo would probably end up on a fridge magnet reminding the participant of the brand over and over, and the brand would get some customer information as she walks into the booth. Green screen, augmented reality and social media have given this old concept new life. Marketers are no more restricted to just static scenes, and the “photos” don’t have to be just on the fridge magnet. But it takes some work to run a successful photobooth marketing plan.

 BRAND

The first step to a successful photobooth marketing plan is to ensure that the brand experience is integrated into the photobooth. It is important that photobooth seamlessly blends in with the larger marketing plan. When the participant enters into the photobooth, they should see what the brand stands for all around them. Remember to use the whole 360-degree space, and not be restricted to just the “background”. With the help of green screens and augmented reality, the photobooth can be a fully immersive experience.

Do not forget that your photobooth should not project an image that is at odds with your brand image. For example, if you have always been a serious brand, the photobooth cannot just be ephemeral fun. You have to integrate new techniques of audience engagement, add some serious element to it - like something educative. If the experience is not consistent with what your brand image promises, the participant may feel cheated and that nagging feeling will stay with them for long.

WOWSOME works with brands to develop custom branded photo booths for marketing events. We ensure that the booth exterior is wrapped creatively to capture the attention of your audience, the backdrops are designed to ensure that your logo is prominent but not intrusive to the experience, and our expertise in augmented reality ensures that the campaign’s theme comes to life inside the booth.

ENGAGE

Gone are the days when participants were happy to just stand in the front of the camera and get photographed in various poses or funny experiences. Today you have to find creative techniques to engage the participants and make them the part of the process. More engaged the participant is with your campaign, stronger will be their relationship to your brand. One of the ways to achieve this is through augmented reality.

WOWSOME takes the whole photobooth experience to the next level. With us, you are not working in a 2D still images spaces anymore. Our expertise in augmented reality allows you to now shoot videos of your participants interacting with their surroundings in a setting that goes hand in hand with your theme.

For example, we recently created a “photobooth” where the participants got a chance to dance with Batman. The participant walks into the photobooth to find herself face to face with Batman, in a setting of her choice. As she begins to dance, a motion capture Batman matches her each step beautifully. The video is streamed live for other people waiting to enter the booth. This was enough to keep attendees excitedly waiting in long queues to enter the photobooth, now more appropriately called a videobooth.

 SOCIAL

To maximize the success of the photobooth it is imperative that the experience is spreadable on social media. Remember how that photo on the fridge magnet kept reminding the participant of the brand? An augmented reality video shared online will do the same for many more people. And every like, heart and positive comment the video will make the brand even more lovable for the participant.

We help maximize your ROI from the photobooth by ensuring that the participant can instantly share the photo/ video clip on their social network - right from the screen where they first see it. A link to download the same would also be sent to their email id, so they can download a copy on their computers and share/ remix it as they deem fit. Additionally, this also enhances the sense of association that the participants feel towards the brand. Remember that in the end, it is not the marketers who build a brand, but the customers and their stories.

Today’s customer is more social than ever before. We enable user generated content that has the capacity for instant social sharing, custom hashtags that get pre-populated with their status updates and tagging them in a shared, online event album. You have to find ways to keep your customer engaged when they are active online - both during and after the event.

CAPTURE INFORMATION

While the customer is at the center of the photobooth experience, it is important to remember that as a marketer you want to derive some tangible outcomes from the event as well. While the customers are queued up to enter the photobooth, keep them occupied. As has been known since long, occupied wait is shorter than unoccupied wait. This is the time you should talk to them about what they like about the brand, what they don’t, will the recommend you to others, if not - what will have to change for them to do so. All you need to get their information is to take a scan of their identity card or visiting card. You will anyways get their email id as the photo/ video will be mailed to them. If they are willing to share to social media directly from your screen, you may get some information from there as well. Further, you will get some more information when they click on the link in their email to download the photo/ video.
